  • A tree service removes the tree and the large limbs from the roof.
  • We cover the opening with a heavy-duty tarp so the next rain stays out.
  • We check the attic, ceilings, and walls for water and dry what got wet.

Tree damage to the roof

We tarp the opening and dry the house

A tree or limb can crack rafters and decking, tear off shingles, and punch through to the attic. Even a limb that did not break through can lift shingles and crack the decking, and the leak shows up days later. We assess the roof, tarp the damaged area with fastening suited to your roofing, and find the water that already got in with moisture meters and thermal imaging.

FAQ

Tree Damage Questions

Questions Pensacola homeowners ask after a tree hits the house.

Have a question about your home?

Talk to our team. We serve Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa Counties.

(786) 746-7599
Can a limb damage the roof without breaking through?

Yes. A heavy limb can crack the decking and lift or break shingles without leaving a hole, and the leak shows up with the next rain. We check the roof and the attic for that hidden damage.

Is it safe to stay in the house after a tree hits it?

Stay out of the rooms under the damage and away from any sagging ceiling or downed lines. If the structure looks unstable, leave the house and wait for the tree to be removed and the damage assessed.

Do I need a tarp if the tree only damaged a small part of the roof?

Usually yes. Even a small opening lets enough rain in to soak the insulation and the ceiling below. A tarp over the area keeps it dry until the roof is permanently repaired.
